We have many breeds including Cochins, Marans, Pekins, Polish and Silkies.
As a family we started with a few Silkies in our back garden which we kept as pets and for eggs. Over the years this has now built up to over 50 birds and 12 different breeds. Hatching out and rearing chickens is excellent fun for us and knowing that we can help more people enjoy chickens and live a sustainable life is very rewarding.
John is a driving instructor who enjoys pottering around in the vegetable garden and spending time with the chickens in his spare time. He also enjoys keeping quails and turkeys.
Tessa is now a full time chicken carer (AKA Chicken slave) taking the lead role in looking after the flock. Her favourite breeds are Pekins and Silkies though she can’t resist a cute duckling either.

Productive Pets is a family run hobby in Wales, that helps ordinary people all over the UK with little or no experience of keeping chickens to set up a coup in the back garden. We can supply everything you need and can even come to your house to set it all up. We do not stop there, we are proud of our after sales support service. We will answer emailed questions, provide help and advice if your chicken gets ill and even take back unwanted birds.
Please note that we are not a business and sell birds and stock purely to cover the costs of keeping our own flock! Chickens are a fantastic hobby and we hope that we can encourage more people to join the world of poultry.
Together, we can spread the word that chickens in the garden are healthier for everyone than those in a battery cage.
